Directional Drill Locator

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable HDD Locator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be capable of setting up the bore profile, calibrating the beacon, and possess knowledge of mixing mud per ground conditions. The HDD Locator must also hold a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker and Airbrakes endorsements

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Set up the bore profile and ensure accurate placement of underground utilities
    • Calibrate the beacon to ensure accurate tracking of the drilling head
    • Conduct pre-job meetings with crew to review job requirements and safety procedures
    • Mix muds based on ground conditions
    • Conduct surveys and measurements to ensure accurate placement of underground utilities
    • Monitor drilling operations to ensure compliance with project specifications 
    • Maintain accurate records of job activities and daily equipment reports
    • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) 
    • Communicate effectively with crew members, 

     

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years of experience in HDD locating
    • Knowledge of setting up the bore profileKnowledge of calibrating the beacon
    • Knowledge of mixing muds based on ground conditions
    • Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker and Airbrakes endorsements
    • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans
    • Knowledge of underground utility installation and replacement procedures
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions 

     

    Physical Requirements:

      • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
      • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods of time 
      • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow 

       

      Working Conditions:

      • Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including construction sites, roadways, and other outdoor environments 
      • May be exposed to loud noise, dust, dirt, and other hazards 
      • May work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to meet project deadlines
