Directional Driller

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Directional Driller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a ditch witch JT25 and possess knowledge of mixing muds based on ground conditions. The Directional Driller should also have a vast knowledge of pre-reams and hold a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker and Airbrakes endorsements. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the ditch witch JT25 drilling rig
  • Ability to mix muds based on ground conditions
  • Conduct pre-job meetings with crew to review job requirements and safety procedures
  • Set up and operate drilling equipment, including mud pumps and bore head
  • Conduct surveys and measurements to ensure accurate placement of underground utilities
  • Install and replace underground pipes, conduits, and cables
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of job activities and daily equipment reports
  • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor 

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in directional drilling
  • Ability to operate and maintain ditch witch JT25 drilling rig
  • Vast knowledge of pre-reams
  • Ability to mix muds based on ground conditions 
  • Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Tanker and Airbrakes endorsements
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans
  • Knowledge of underground utility installation and replacement procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including construction sites, roadways, and other outdoor environments 
  • May be exposed to loud noise, dust, dirt, and other hazards
  • May work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to meet project deadlines
