Construction Laborer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Construction Laborer to assist our team in pot holing utilities, spotting the backhoe operator while digging pits, setting up traffic control, and performing various manual labor tasks. The ideal candidate will be a team player, able to follow instructions and work efficiently to meet project deadlines. This position requires physical strength, endurance, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in pot holing utilities to locate existing pipes and cables
  • Spot the backhoe operator while digging pits for utilities 
  • Help set up traffic control measures, such as cones and signs 
  • Assist with setting boxes, tie-ins, saw cutting, and jack hammering 
  • Backfill and compact potholes and pits to prevent accidents and ensure safety 
  • Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area 
  • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor 

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in construction or manual labor preferred
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance 
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including construction sites, roadways, and other outdoor environments
  • May be exposed to loud noise, dust, dirt, and other hazards
  • May work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to meet project deadlines
